What is the difference between a heat strip and a heat pump?
Simply put, a Heat Strip is an air conditioner that uses an electric heat
strip for heating needs. A Heat Pump is an air conditoner that has a reversing valve;
instead of the heat coming out of the back, the reversing valve reverses the cycle so the
heat comes out of the front, making your air conditioner a heater.
I was wondering if you have any units that fit the crank-out style windows;
is there a separate installation kit?
Check our casement units page; no sleeves are made for this type of window.
You will have to make a custom installation for the casement unit.
Are the measurements listed (height, width, depth) for the actual unit, or
for the outside sleeve measurement? I am trying to fit my existing through the wall
openings.
The measurements listed are of the outside diameter of the sleeve, or wall
opening (not the unit).
Are these units new or refurbished? The prices seem very low compared to
local retail stores. I just want to be sure that the unit I buy from Genie Air Conditioning
is a new unit.
Yes, all of our units are brand new unless specified on the page.
How do you figure out how many BTU's you need?
We usually recommend 12,000 BTUs for every 400 square feet.
Do all air conditioners come with sleeves?
No, some models are replacements only. Check specs to see if the unit comes
with a sleeve and if the unit is a wall unit, or talk to one of our sales associates.
Is a window kit included on all units?
No, some models are replacements only. Check specs to see if the model comes
with a window kit and if the unit is a window unit and what type of window unit.
What is the difference between a Window kit and a Trim kit?
Window Kits are used to set up an air conditioner through a sliding window.
They generally include support brackets for stability.Trim Kits are used to install air
conditioning units through a wall opening, and include a hard plastic frame to seal the gap
between the unit and the wall.
Do room air conditioners dehumidify?
All air conditioners take moisture out of the air but they are not considered
a dehumidifier on their own. We do sell individual dehumidifiers.
What is EER all about?
The "Energy Efficiency Ratio" (EER) of a room air conditioner is a rating of
its operating efficiency. To determine the EER, you divide the BTU/Hr cooling capacity by
the amount of electric power consumed (watts). The higher the EER, the more cooling your
customer gets for his money and the lower the operating costs for comparable cooling
capacity. Each model's EER is clearly marked on its energy hang tag.
Do you have Window and Wall Air Conditioners that do not stick out of my
wall?
Yes, they are called Solid-Sided Units. If you wish to order Solid-Sided
Units, it is necessary to know the height and width of the installation area and voltage you
have available for the unit.
What is the difference between 115 Volt Air Conditioners and 230 Volt Air
conditioners?
A 115 Volt Air Conditioner uses the standard voltage available in your home or
office. A 230 Volt Air Conditioner needs different breaker amps (examples: 15 amp Tandem 20
amp Perpendicular 30 amp Large Tandem) which require a different type of electric plug. (For
pictures of different plug types available, go to question 14)
Do I need to purchase a bucket for my Portable Air Conditioner?
No, most Portable Air Conditioners come with a bucket. If the Portable does
not come with a bucket it will be specified in the specs of that unit.
What does an A, C, D, and E plug look like?

What would a casement unit look like in a crank out window or sliding
window?

What would typical installations look like?

Why should I get a portable air conditioner with dual hose, instead of a
single hose unit?
Single hose Portable air conditioning units are low efficiency and will cause more problems
that you can easily avoid by simply obtaining a dual hose unit.

why a dual hose air conditioner will be more beneficial to your home.
